How well do you know yourself?

How well do you know yourself? We decided to try and find out, one day last month in Nottingham.

And it turns out that while there’s a lot we do know about ourselves, one thing not many of us know is our credit score.

We set up a booth where people could pop in and answer some simple questions in our quiz – but one question above all foxed them.  Watch the video to find out how and why!

What is the FREE Experian Credit Score? And why is it useful?
Knowing your Experian Credit Score can help you when you decide to apply for credit. It can help show you how lenders may view you, and can be a useful thing to know when you are thinking of applying for credit – like a loan, credit card, mortgage, car finance…even a mobile phone contract.

To get your Experian Credit Score FREE forever, sign up to our new CreditMatcher, a free independent service that helps you compare credit deals you’re more likely to get, based on your credit information. We are a credit broker not a lender, working with selected lenders*

Look around first
A scattergun approach to making credit applications, even if you see it as just shopping around, could have a negative impact on your Experian Credit Score – as when you apply for credit, a ‘credit search’ is recorded on your report. Too many credit applications can suggest you are over-reliant on credit.

So making sure you look around for a deal that you’re more likely to be accepted for, as well as being best suited to you and your credit history, can be important.

Lenders will use your credit report information, combined with the other information you put on your credit application form, past information lenders already have plus any criteria of their own, to decide if they’d like to give you credit.  There’s no one credit score or magic number – different lenders score differently.

The Experian Credit Score is free, forever. Checking your Experian Credit Score before you apply for new credit can give you a good indication of how lenders may view you based on information in your Experian Credit Report.

*Experian acts as a credit broker and not a lender in the provision of its credit cards and personal, car finance and guarantor loans matching services, meaning it will show you products offered by lenders and other brokers.

CreditMatcher services are provided free however we will receive commission payments from lenders or brokers we introduce you to.
