Some of the fascinating figures we found include:

  • WAKEFIELD:  Almost one in ten (9%) say they do the majority of their Christmas shopping seven to twelve months in advance
  • LONDON:  One in seven buy the bulk of their presents for others in the final week before Christmas Day.
  •  N IRELAND:  Over a fifth (21%) say that they stick unfailingly to their budget and never overspend.
  • GLASGOW:  Spends  the most on presents for other people (£500.12 per person)
  • COVENTRY:  Each resident buys gifts for an average 11 people – more than anyone else in the country.
  • NORTH WEST: More than a third (34%) admit they often or always exceed their budget.
  • NORTH EAST:  Spends the most on mince pies and chocolate (£19.21 on mince pies and £26.71 on chocolate)
