Most Regions Enjoyed an Increase in Shopper Traffic Last Week

The latest national retail traffic report from Experian FootFall shows a 0.7% week on week increase in shopper traffic and a decline of 4.0% year on year, which is reflective of the Olympic torch celebrations in many towns last year which boosted footfall in affected regions as the torch passed through on it’s journey to the Olympic opening ceremony.

Again each day showed a single figure decline on last year.  The good weather over the weekend 29th and 30th we saw  the highest  year on year declines for the week for Sunday at 6.2% and a slightly less pronounced decline of 4.2% for Saturday.

In the regions 2 out of the 11 have shown a positive increase year on year with Eastern England showing the highest at 3.4% and Northern Ireland with an increase of 0.5%.  7 of the 11 regions however, did show a week on week increase.

Shopper traffic for the retail parks again showed a positive increase of 1.2% week on week and 0.8% year on year, perhaps driven by the early summer sales.
