About this statement
Where you submit a job application through our third party provider for a UK based position, this (and any accompanying CV you provide) will be processed by Experian Limited as data controller. Where you submit a job application through our third party provider for a non-UK based position, then this (and any accompanying CV you provide) will be processed by Experian Limited as a data processor on behalf of the entity to which you submit your application, which will act as a data controller. Details of such other companies within the Experian Group can be found in the Addendum to this policy.

Personal information means information which on its own or in combination with other information allows identification of an individual.
Sensitive personal information means personal information relating to race or ethnic origin, political opinions or persuasion, philosophical or religious beliefs or other beliefs of a similar nature, trade union membership or affiliation, sexual life, health or medical conditions or criminal history (including information on whether a person has been suspected or accused of a criminal offence).
When registering as a user or submitting a recruitment application to Experian through this web site, we collect personal information from you through the use of enquiry forms and every time you voluntarily provide us your details. Our enquiry forms may specify which information must be provided for applications to be considered. We also collect sensitive personal data from you where required by law, or where you voluntarily choose to provide us with these details as part of your application in which case we will only process (including collecting, using, amending, retaining and/or destroying etc) this sensitive personal data as necessary for the evaluation of your employment application and in accordance with the applicable laws. We will only retain your sensitive personal information where lawful to do so.
In addition, we log your IP address but do not process this information for any purpose other than facilitating your browsing of this website. We do not retain this information in a manner that is attributable to you as an individual.
Other than as set out above, we do not collect or request from you any personal information for the purposes of your employment application. This policy may be supplemented during the recruitment process according to how far your application proceeds.
Use of personal information
We process personal information collected via this recruitment web site for the purposes of:
•Dealing with your requests and enquiries.
•Providing you with information about job vacancies, offered by Experian, upon request.
•Processing your application for employment at Experian (as set out in more detail below).
•Making hiring decisions or, after hiring, for making further decisions regarding your employment with Experian.
Your personal information will be processed by the relevant HR/recruitment teams within the Experian Group Companies to which you have submitted your application. Access to your information will be limited to those individuals who need to access that data to fulfil a specific HR/recruitment function.
Please note that failing to provide us with your personal information may prevent the Group from dealing with your requests and enquiries, from providing you with the information you have requested and/or from processing and dealing with your application for employment at Experian, as the case may be.
We do not sell personal information collected through this site or use your personal information for any other purposes than those stated above.
Cookies may be used by us to provide you with customised information from our web site. A cookie is an element of data that a web site can send to your browser, which may then store it on your system. Cookies allow us to understand who has seen which pages and advertisements, to determine how frequently particular pages are visited and to determine the most popular areas of our web site. We endeavour to take all reasonable steps to protect your personal information. All the data you input will be collected via a secure server. The secure server software encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us. Information that we collect may be stored, processed in and transferred between any of the countries we operate in (see the Addendum to this policy) to enable the use of your information in accordance with your requests and the terms of this policy.
For your part you should ensure that the credentials you use to access Experian systems are kept securely. Passwords should not be guessable. We strongly recommend that, as a minimum, passwords are a minimum of 8 characters long and contain a mix of upper and lower case characters and numbers. Passwords should be changed frequently, and they should never be written down or shared.
Experian uses secure web server technologies to protect personal information you provide to us through your use of this recruitment website. We will only disclose personal information to companies within the Group (see the Addendum to this policy for more details), and, if your employment application reaches the later stages of any recruitment process, to third parties as necessary to perform background checking services on behalf of Experian (please see the Verification of personal data and Authorisations and Important Information sections below for more details), as these may require such information in order to process your application, respond to your request or to provide you with recruitment information or as otherwise legally required or lawfully permitted. These Group Companies and such third parties as Experian may use to verify your application, should any application be successful in reaching the verification stage of the recruitment process, may not be based in your local jurisdiction and may be based outside the European Economic Area. By providing your personal information and sensitive personal information to Experian through this recruitment site, you are providing your unambiguous consent to these disclosures.
Applying for a career at Experian
Personal information (including sensitive personal information) about you which we obtain in the course of considering your suitability for employment will be stored and processed in accordance with local legal requirements. The data will be processed by the entity to which you are submitting your job application (see the Addendum for more specific details on our Group Companies) as a data controller for the purposes of evaluating your application to work for Experian and/or for the inclusion in your personal records if you become an Experian employee.
If, when submitting your details, you agree to have your application considered by other companies within the Experian Group should a suitable vacancy arise, other companies (see the Addendum to this Policy) may also consider your application as a data controller subject to their local data protection laws. Please note that this may involve a transfer of your personal data outside of your local jurisdiction and, in some cases, outside the European Economic Area.
It is your responsibility to maintain and update the personal information provided by you on our recruitment system and Experian may from time to time request, via email, that you update your personal information to ensure it is accurate. You have the right to access and update your personal information at any time by accessing this system. Personal information will not be kept for longer than is necessary to achieve the processing purposes set out above and will be removed from our database earlier at your request unless we have a lawful reason to retain the information. If you wish Experian to delete your profile, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
It is your responsibility to ensure that the computer you are using for the processing of your data is adequately secured and protected against malicious software, such as trojans, computer viruses and worm programs. You are aware of the fact that without adequate security measures (e.g. secure web browser configuration, up-to-date antivirus software, personal firewall software, no usage of software from dubious sources) there is a risk that the data and passwords you use to protect access to your data, could be disclosed to unauthorized third parties.
Verification of personal data
If your employment application reaches the later stages of any recruitment process, Experian will require the use of its background checking service (Experian Background Checking) to verify the personal information you have provided as part of your application. Where you are a UK based applicant, this background checking service will be carried out by Experian Limited. Where you are a non-UK based applicant (or you have recently moved to the UK) Experian may use the services of third parties, possibly based outside of the European Economic Area. All third parties are thoroughly vetted by Experian and your information will only be used for the purposes of processing your application and considering your suitability for employment.
In the event your application reaches verification stage, the information Experian receives from its background checking service will be retained for the purpose of screening you for employment with Experian and you understand that if offered the position, employment will be subject to satisfactory employer references and satisfactory results from any other background checks that may be required.
If employed by Experian, such checks may then be repeated periodically throughout your employment with Experian.
Authorisations and Important Information
I authorise Experian and any agent contracted with Experian to provide background checking services, to carry out all necessary enquiries to verify the information I have submitted on my application or any other information which may be relevant to my application.
I also authorise Experian to verify my identity either by me providing appropriate documentation as requested or by Experian undertaking a search to check the details I have supplied in my application against my particulars on any databases to which they have access.
I authorise Experian and any agent contracted with Experian to provide background checking services, to make enquiries to verify the educational details I have submitted, of the school, college and/or university and/or other educational establishment I have provided information on where I have gained a qualification.
I authorise enquiries to be made of my financial and credit history where applicable. These checks will only use data that is held within Experian’s systems, by fraud prevention agencies or other appropriate third parties.
I understand that I will be required to produce documentation that is required by law to establish my right to work in the UK or in the European Economic Area.
I understand that Experian may also require that a check is made on any criminal convictions I may have had in the past. I give consent to Disclosure Scotland to mail my disclosure certificate directly to Experian and I consent to Experian opening and handling my disclosure certificate for the purposes of consideration of my application, and holding a copy of my disclosure until 6 weeks after the completion of my background check.
I understand that Experian will endeavour to carry out all enquiries in a proper and sensitive way and I authorise them to speak to or otherwise communicate with me concerning any ambiguity or other reason, in order that such enquiries can fairly and diligently be carried out.
I understand that if any information gives cause for concern Experian will discuss the information with me and the possible impact on my employment.
I authorise Experian to retain this information and to provide this to any other future employer with my consent.
Should our investigations identify fraud or the commission of any other criminal offence by you (on your part) when applying for, or during the course of your employment with us, we will record details of this on fraud prevention databases. This information may be accessed from the UK and other countries and used by law enforcement agencies and by us and other employers (and potential employers) to prevent fraud. If you want to receive details of those fraud prevention agencies write to us at Experian Limited, PO Box 8000, Nottingham NG80 7WF. You have a legal right to these details.
Please note that these checks will only be carried out if your application is successful in reaching the verification stage of the recruitment process. If your application does not succeed to this point, then no such checks will be carried out on you.
I understand that if I supply untrue information in my application or if I wilfully mislead Experian through any information I have provided or withheld as part of my application then this may lead to any offer of employment being withdrawn, or where employment has already commenced, the termination of such employment.
By registering on our careers site and indicating your acceptance of this policy, you are confirming that you have read this policy and you are providing your explicit consent to our processing personal data about you where necessary for the above purposes, including the processing of any sensitive personal data about you. Please note that you may withdraw your consent at any time. However, doing so may mean we are unable to process your application.
Personal Data and your rights
If we collect any personal data from you, please also be aware that:
• You have the right to obtain confirmation as to whether or not your personal data are processed by Experian.
• You have the right to be informed:
• of the source of your personal data;
• of the purposes and methods of any processing;
• of the data controller’s identity;
• of the entities or categories of entities to whom or which the personal data may be communicated.
• You have the right to obtain:
• updating, rectification or integration of your data;
• erasure, anonymization or blocking of your data if processed unlawfully.
• You have the right to object, in whole or in part,
• on legitimate grounds, to the processing of your personal data, even though they are relevant to the purpose of the collection;
• to the processing of your personal data, where it is made for the purpose of sending advertising materials or direct selling or else for the performance of market or commercial communication surveys.
If you choose to opt-in to our e-bulletins, newsletters or other information and then subsequently you no longer wish to receive such information from us, you have the option at any time to go back in and amend your profile choices so as not to receive such e-bulletins, newsletters and/or other information that you previously had opted in to receive.
