My Experience So Far

I am currently working as a Business Analyst (BA) for the Credit Services Consumer Products team. Although I have only been in the role a short time, I have already been involved in some really high profile projects. A highlight so far has been working as part of the ‘Core Release’ team. Core Releases take place a couple of times each year, providing a range of improvements to some of Experian’s most important products, used by a large number of key clients. They are therefore is a really important part of what we do! My newest challenge is working on the first project I have been given sole responsibility for, as a BA. Again, this will deliver a key improvement to an existing product. This has already involved a wide variety of tasks, such as liaising with a range of stakeholders to gather requirements, and document what our change will deliver in terms of new functionality. I have then been working with our technical teams to understand what will need to be done at a technical level to deliver this project.

Previous to this rotation, I had been on a secondment with Global Technology Services (GTS), working on a project to set up and run a monthly reporting process regarding GTS’ global performance. GTS are responsible for implementing and maintaining Experian’s internal systems and technologies globally, so the work they do is vital to the organisation’s continued success. The role gave me the opportunity to work with colleagues from a variety of levels, right up to senior management. It really was a great experience as I got exposure to some of the most experienced people within the business, and got a great insight into how Experian functions on a global scale.

Overall, my time on the Experian Graduate Scheme so far has been fantastic. The work is challenging and varied, and from early on you will be given real responsibilities and deadlines, but with the reassurance of a knowledgeable support network to help you. Add to this the many opportunities for personal development and international travel (I will be spending 3 months of next year on a programming course in India!), I cannot recommend the scheme enough.

Memorable Moment at Experian

I was recently given the opportunity to go on a business trip to Experian’s offices in Allen, Texas, where I met colleagues based in all of our regions worldwide. Flying business class alongside the CIO was quite an experience for a humble Graduate Trainee like myself! This just shows the breadth of opportunities that Experian can offer; it is a truly global company and makes a priority of investing in its people.
