How do I add an explanatory note to my credit report?

James

Is it possible for me to write explanatory statement explaining the status of one of the entries on my credit report? If so, can you tell me what format it should take please? Kind regards.

Yes, you can add an explanatory statement to your credit report to add background information. The note can contain up to 200 words and you simply need to send us the wording you want to use and tell us which entry you want it adding to. For example, you might say something along the following lines. “Please add the following note to the MBNA credit card account that started 21/08/08: I would like to explain the reason behind the late payments on this account. These occurred because…” Once we have added the note, we will let you know. The note will then stay on your credit report until 1) you ask us to remove it or 2) the entry it is attached to is removed.
