How do I break the link between my credit report and my estranged husband's?

James

Hi, I have been separated from my husband for almost 3 years now but he is still linked to me. How do I get his name taken off my credit report? Thank you,

Debbie, Huntingdon

Debbie

As long as your finances have also become estranged, separating your credit reports is straightforward. Simply get in touch and ask us to break the link between your reports. You'll need to confirm that your finances are no longer connected and we may ask you to complete a brief questionnaire. We'll then check there are no financial connections on our records and, assuming we find none, we'll break the link there and then and write to you to let you know. Child maintenance payments do not count as a financial connection and in some cases we can even break the link where circumstances mean you have to maintain a joint mortgage. If, however, you still have other joint accounts, you will need to close these or transfer them into one name only before we can decouple your credit reports. The credit reference agencies can hold different information about you so you will need to approach all three agencies to make sure all of your future credit applications are assessed using your credit history and your credit history only.
