Simplyhealth provide health and dental cash plans and private health insurance for individuals and businesses.
They have over 1,400 employees serving 2.5 million individuals and 11,000 businesses in the UK. Based in Andover, Simplyhealth also has offices in Manchester, Leeds and Bristol.
As a user of Bacs for over 10 years and Bacstel-IP since 2003, Simplyhealth process over 650,000 monthly direct debits and over 13,000 daily direct credits through their bank. With such a high volume of transactions, Simplyhealth are keen to ensure that all of their customer data is processed safely and securely.
Before migration to Bacstel-IP, Simplyhealth's payments processing involved several legacy systems being run in parallel, this made it difficult for Simplyhealth to obtain the standard of security and authorisation required. Simplyhealth wanted to migrate to a Bacstel-IP compliant solution that would allow them to streamline their legacy systems under one scalable, easily customisable solution. The solution they chose initially however, did not meet their expectations in terms of capability or customer service and Simplyhealth were forced to explore alternative solutions.
After thoroughly reviewing the solutions available, Simplyhealth chose Experian Payments UK Gateway as the most suitable fit for their requirements. Having previously successfully implemented Bank Wizard, Experian's data validation solution, Simplyhealth already had confidence in the service provided by Experian. "The previous Bacstel-IP software we were using from another supplier did not meet our expectations and we were not happy with their customer service." says Jamie Jones, IT Service Delivery Manager for Simplyhealth. "After looking into what Experian Payments UK Gateway could provide, we were confident in both the capabilities of the solution and the standard of support we would receive."
The implementation of Experian Payments UK Gateway ran smoothly with no disruption to day-to-day operations. Simplyhealth now have complete control of the solution and have been able to customise Experian Payments UK Gateway easily in-house to meet their particular requirements. Experian Payments UK Gateway is now used to process payments safely and securely and to download the necessary reports from Bacstel-IP into the company's business applications automatically. This means that Simplyhealth are now able to process payments in each of their individual business units, freeing up considerable time and resources within their IT Department. They also don't go in for the hard sell. They let us know of any relevant information as and when it is available and then let us decide for ourselves what is appropriate for us"
