Bacs Reference fields or Reference fields (Bacs)
Fields used by the Bacs Service to refer to originators and recipients. Field 9 is the name of the Originator and is typically printed on the recipient’s bank statement. Field 10 is the payee’s reference and is typically a customer account number or Direct Debit reference. Field 11 is the name of the recipient. In some cases payers use this to hold other reference information such as National Insurance number.
