We’re pleased to share an important milestone in the development of National Hunter’s data-sharing consortium.
Building on Experian’s long-standing partnership with National Hunter, we are deepening our commitment by taking ownership of the business. This will enable further investment in National Hunter’s data, technology and capabilities, and create new opportunities to combine these with Experian’s broader capabilities to help members and clients combat fraud.
National Hunter already plays an important role in helping businesses identify and manage fraud. Its comprehensive fraud intelligence data, alongside Experian’s broader data, analytics and technology capabilities, helps clients build a more complete view of emerging threats, allowing them to detect fraud earlier, make faster decisions and protect customers.
This new arrangement will allow Experian to invest more directly in the consortium and accelerate its development, building on National Hunter’s existing strengths while creating new opportunities to enhance the services and capabilities available to members.
Why does this matter now
Fraud is evolving at unprecedented speed, driven by advances in artificial intelligence. From deepfake identity checks to AI generated voice scams, threats are becoming more sophisticated and harder to detect.
In fact, the latest Experian UK Fraud, Financial and Identity Crime Report found that 62% of organisations have seen the impact of fraud increase in recent years, highlighting the growing challenge businesses face in protecting customers and managing risk.
In addition, tackling fraud remains a priority, with almost three quarters (73%) expecting their fraud management budgets to increase this year. However, as fraud continues to evolve at pace, it’s crucial that these investments are focused on areas that will have the greatest impact.
To stay ahead, businesses need:
- Broader datasets
- Faster insights
- More connected intelligence
- Tools that can adapt as fraud evolves
What does this mean for our clients
Clients can expect continued support in the areas outlined below. In addition, they will benefit from ongoing innovation that will further enhance National Hunter’s services and capabilities:
- A more complete view of risk across application, onboarding and account activity
- Faster, more informed decisions with reduced customer friction
- Greater visibility of complex fraud patterns that may otherwise go undetected
- Robust governance supported by secure infrastructure and responsible data use
What it means for National Hunter members
For National Hunter members, this enhances fraud protection without changing how they work today.
There will be no change to the service they get today. In addition, they will now get access to larger and broader datasets to support detection, greater scale and network growth as well as access to new capabilities, including tools such as the GenAI Investigator Assistant.
Future innovation and looking ahead
This exciting milestone reflects our continued commitment to building a more connected and intelligence-led fraud ecosystem. It will create a strong foundation for future innovation and enhance National Hunter’s current capabilities, data assets, and technology.
Areas of innovation will include:
- Enhanced fraud detection through AI driven risk scoring and adaptive machine learning models
- Greater flexibility through self-service rule management capabilities
- Expanded integration options to help organisations streamline fraud operations and case management
