The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a new set of regulations being introduced to the EU on 25th May 2018. This replaces the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Data Protection Directive from 1995.
The purpose of the GDPR is to bring data protection regulations in line across the EU and to give control of personal data back to the individual.
The GDPR applies to Controllers and Processors of data and will be enforced by the Information Commissioners Office (ICO).
