So, you want to credit check a business you’re working with or about to work with?
First of all, well done! That’s a great way to reduce your financial risk and make sure that you only work with businesses who are in a good position to pay you – and pay you on time. Credit checking not only allows you to qualify prospects and suppliers, but also to set realistic credit limits.
So the question should never be ‘should we do a credit check?’, only, ‘what type of credit check should we choose?’…
At Experian, we have two options for businesses like yours who want to conduct a company check.
You can purchase a one-off Business Credit Report, or you can use our subscription service. If you’re not sure which is the right option for you, then let’s take a look at some of the main differences between them.
Single Business Credit Report
As the name suggests, if you buy a single report, that’s exactly what you’ll get. You’ll see a snapshot of the report for 90 days from the date of purchase which includes:
- Business credit score
- Director information
- Credit limit/rating
- Payment performance
- Any adverse information the company has recorded against it such as County Court Judgments (CCJs) or Bankruptcy.
This is a simple option if you only have few businesses you want to check and rarely need to bring on new ones. There’s no commitment and the data you see will be completely up to date as of the day of purchase.
A single report costs £24.99 (+VAT), with subsequent purchases being £18.99 (+VAT).
Business Express Subscription Service
With a monthly subscription, you’ll get all of the above but for as many searches and as many users as you need for any UK company. Our data is updated daily so the information you see will always be fresh.
There are a number of additional benefits which come with the full service:
- Dedicated account manager
- Customer support (by email, telephone and live chat)
- Email alerts – letting you know about any company, client or supplier who may be of interest
- Full accounts information such as director and mortgage information
- Ledger Manager – we take your sales ledger and combine it with our credit information to help you manage your cash flow and collections
This comprehensive solution suits any business that conducts regular credit checks. It allows you to monitor your existing clients and stay on top of any changes in their financial standing and of course, it allows you to do your due diligence with any potential clients you are considering working with.
This option has a free trial and then we tailor a package for you according to your business needs.
Experian has the largest business database in the country and we want to make it as easy as possible for you to access reliable information to support your business. Our platform is simple to use and available 24/7. Our credit reports are downloadable in full or as a summary.
Business Credit Checks needn’t be complicated and if they ever feel that way, we’re here to help!
