Clientele

Clientele is a segmentation of drinking occasions that describes the behavioural characteristics of pub and clubs visitors. It takes into account that people have different numbers of drinks occasions per week and each visit may be of a different type.

Clientele analyses behaviour by outlet type visited, when and why it was visited and for how long, drinks and type of food purchased, facilities used, distance travelled and transport used.

What can it do for me?

Clientele helps pub operators to develop the right concepts for different locations by providing an understanding of the behaviour of the local drinking population.

It also helps brand owners to understand their audiences and to identify the best brands to sell in different locations.

A few key facts

  • Clientele has been developed using Taylor Nelson Sofres' Alco Vision survey of drinking occasions, with a sample of over 40,000 people.
  • The classification allocates the UK population into one of 14 occasions, ranging from Big Night Out to Evening Local and Out for Dinner.
  • It is available at person level, postcode level, Output Area level and postal sector level.
