Goad copyright FAQs
Why do I have to worry about copyright?
Goad plans are based on Ordnance Survey background mapping and are subject to dual copyright jointly held by Experian Ltd and Ordnance Survey. Copyright is protected by legislation.
Do I have to pay extra for copyright?
Goad Plan prices include all copyright and royalty payments.
How many copies can I make?
You can make unlimited copies of extracts as long as they are no greater than A4 (210 mm x 297 mm) in size, and are at the original 1:1000 scale.
Can I make A3 copies?
Reproduction of A3 extracts at the original 1:1000 scale is permitted for limited business use, not for widespread marketing activities.
Can I make full size copies?
Only when officially called for in connection with any proceedings on parliamentary, judicial, royal commission or statutory enquiry matters on which the Licensee is a litigant or is directly acting on behalf of such litigants.
Can I use a photocopier to shrink an A3 copy to fit an A4 piece of paper?
No. Goad Plans must always be represented at their true 1:1000 scale.
Do I have to acknowledge copyright on any copies I make?
Each copy made by the Licensee must bear the written authority: "Experian Goad Digital Plans include mapping data licensed from Ordnance Survey with the permission of the Controller of Her Majesty's Stationery Office. (c) Crown Copyright and Experian Copyright. All rights reserved. Licence number PU 100017316." This acknowledgment must also be placed in any document that reproduces extracts from Goad plans, including Shopping Centre brochures, Auction Catalogues, Investment prospectuses or general sales particulars.
Can I put copies on a website?
Goad Plans must not be placed on a website unless your company has the appropriate Goad contract with a current signed web copyright licence. For further information please contact us on 0845 6016011.
How long does Goad copyright last?
Copyright for a Goad plan lasts for 12 months from the date of purchase for an annually surveyed plan and 24 months for a plan surveyed biennially. Copying plans after the relevant copyright has elapsed is in breach of both Experian and Ordnance Survey copyright.
How do I know whether the plan is an annual or a biennial plan?
Please telephone us on 0845 6016011 or contact us directly and we will provide you with this information.
Can I buy an annual copyright licence so that I can go on using old plans without breaching Goad and OS copyright?
No, copyright is included in the price of the plan and so only lasts while that plan is still current.
Can I continue to use a Goad Plan when it is no longer current?
Plans can be used but not copied, as copying plans after the relevant copyright has lapsed is a breach of both Experian and Ordnance Survey copyright.
Can Goad Paper Plans be captured in an electronic retrieval system?
It is not permitted to capture, transmit, translate, convert or scan any Goad plan for use via e-mail, Internet and world-wide-web without the relevant authorised licenses.
How do I find out whether the plan I am using is current?
Please telephone us on 0845 601 6011 or contact us directly and we will provide you with this information.
