What is a BPSS check?

A BPSS check (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) is required pre-employment screening for anyone accessing UK government data, assets, systems or property. It is a minimum level of national security vetting, and verifies an employee or contractor's identity, right to work, criminal record, and employment history.
